Tu-22M (the NATO codification : Backfire) - long-range supersonic bomber - missile / scout with variable geometry wing .In January 1974 the MIC under the USSR Council of Ministers adopted a decision on further modification of the Tu-22M2 engines under the NC-25 . The new modifications of aircraft, dubbed the Tu-22M3 (45-03), were installed more powerful and efficient engines NK-25 with electronic control system ECM-25.
