The Ikaho Hot Spring is at the foot of Mt. Haruna in the central part of Gunma Prefecture. It is a great hot spring representing Gunma which was widely recommended as a health resort during the Meiji era by a German doctor. Since the old days, this hot spring has been loved by the people as a spring of child-bearing. It has a high iron content, is brownish-red in color, and feels soft.
The hot spring flows under the famous stone steps that symbolize this hot spring resort and hot water is delivered separately to the respective inns from the source where it is drawn from. Moreover, if you walk through the area dressed in Yukata (traditional Japanese summer robe), you will find that the attire goes very well with the resort's unique atmosphere.
