place with historical importance, pen (enclosure)

Kraal - Connected to the Roping Arena by a narrow cattle chute, this small (10 meters diameter) pen served as a holding area for calves, and/or possibly goats, which were used in roping contests.
It is fashioned in the style of the classic Zulu kraals in South Africa, with untrimmed trigs mounted upright and leaning outward from the base circle. The word "kraal" is actually Afrikaans in origin, and is cognate to the Spanish "corral." Among the Swahili speaking peoples of East Africa, this sort of animal pen would be called a "boma."
