This building was built as the headquarters of the former B.M.C. Durfee Trust Company, a bank which dated back to the nineteenth century and the city's financial heyday. Towards the end of its life, the bank was absorbed as a division of the Bank of Boston, which then became BankBoston in 1996. BankBoston and Fleet Bank (which bought BankBoston in 1999) both had regional offices in the building, but once Bank of America bought the bank in 2005, the building was no longer used as regional offices for the bank. Today a property management group occupies the building.
