  • Quite the place to visit. I was here in the 70s doing geodetic surveys for NASA and the Air Force. Still have my lighter from the "Volcano Club". This was the end of the world.
  • This served as England's forward base during the Falklands War with Argentina. From here with the aid of 13 refueling tankers a lone and aging Vulcan bomber managed to reach, hit, and close the Port Stanley runway with one of it's 20 dumb iron bombs. This kept Argentinian fast attack aircraft from hitting the fleet,
