Main locomotive works for the LNWR and later LMS railways. After producing over 7000 steam locomotives the Crew Works went to to produce some important diesel classes such as the Class 43 HST.

At one point employing over 20,000 people today Crew employs less than 1000 and only works to maintain, wreck repair and overhaul all forms of rolling stock.
