seaport, place with historical importance
At 1410hrs on December 24th, 1950 following the last boatload of evacuating US Marines, UN Forces and civilian refugees following the Battle of the Chosin Resivoir, the US Navy detonated several hundred tons of explosives placed in and around the Port of Hungnam in order to deny it's use to the approaching Chinese Army.
The explosion combined with naval gunfire and airstrikes reduced the docks, cranes and warehouses to little more than piles of rubble and effictively took the Port of Hungnam out of the conflict.
