One of 3 large landfills used to dispose of domestic and industrial waste in Trinidad. Little sorting, no recycling, little covering of garbage and trash, many scavenger birds, stray dogs and human scavengers on site; spontaneous combustion of piles of garbage occurs in the dry season, with consequent smoke and airborne ash blowing to the west to populated sites. Dangerous place to visit because of uncontrolled activity of human scavengers.
