Marina di Ravenna is a village in the municipality of Ravenna, located on the coast, 8 km from the city. Organizationally, it is the first of the South Shores, ie the number of beach resorts located south of the canal Candiano, the channel that connects the Adriatic Sea to Ravenna, Punta Marina continues with this series and ends at Lido di Savio. History From the founding until the early twenties the story of Marina di Ravenna coincides with that of Porto Corsini. From the postwar period, the fishing village at the entrance of the harbor Candiano began to show its tourism: in 1926 it rose to a residence and tourism company. To give an additional impetus in this direction, it was decided to call the urban area on the right side of the channel "Marina di Ravenna." The country on the left side - then known as Abyssinia, ironically - still bearing the name of Porto Corsini. In 1929 was inaugurated the local station of the Financial Police of the sea. In the thirties it was fixed the urban structure that still exists today: the main axis, Street of Nations, which runs along the coast, and the central square, today named Dora Markus). During World War II Navy of Ravenna was hit by an aerial bombardment that lasted 6 to 9 July 1944. Were shot down the lighthouse, the water tower, the church and several homes.
