MARINE FLEET OPERATORS – SHIP REPAIRS
The original Company in the Group, the Compagnie de Transport ET de Commerce (CTC) was registered in Cameroon in 1957 to open up routes to Northern Cameroon and Southern Chad by river – the Niger and Benue Rivers.
Because traffic to Garoua, in Northern Cameroon, was not regular and constant, owing to the River regime, CTC, in order to secure work all year round, created a Nigerian Subsidiary called NIGER BENUE TRANSPORT COMPANY (NBTC) LIMITED.
To back up its operations with Oil Companies, the CTC/NBTC Group developed a new type of River Transport Equipment more compact and maneuverable Pusher Tugs, under Kort Nozzle Propellers and with Towing Hooks. At the time, the Group developed a Logistic Base at Warri, enabling Storage and Handling of Equipment of Oil Exploration and accommodating ancillary Oil Industry Vessels. This Base also enabled the setting up of the Technical Resources necessary for Maintenance, Repair and Renovation of CTC/NBTC Fleet and Third party Vessels.
With a view to serving better, the Oil Companies located in Port Harcourt, the Group, CTC/NBTC, has expanded to Port Harcourt, with a Temporary Base at Modant Marine premises at Rumuolumeni.
Presently, the Group comprising CTC OFFSHORE (which has taken over from the Compagnie de Transport et de Commerce) and NBTC is the biggest Group in Nigeria in the River Transport and Inland Water Marine Logistics fields with Thirty-Six (36) Pusher Tugs and Seventy-Three (73) Barges.
NBTC has an abiding vision that River Transport in Nigeria remains a potential Sector of activity linked to the industrialization of the Rivers Niger and Benue and the Niger Delta Regions. In the actualization of this vision, CTC OFFSHORE/NBTC LIMITED has an important role to play.
CTC OFFSHORE provides Technical partnership to NBTC Limited. The CTC/NBTC Group now has majority Nigerian Shareholding. Out of Nine (9) Directors in the Board, Five (5) are Nigerians and Four (4) are Expatriates.
