Ishango is a sub-station of Virunga National Park, where in 2005, it became the centre for training Congolese park rangers. The source of the Semliki River, it has a park warden and five rangers,an airstrip, an administrative building, four houses and some tented accommodations for visitors.

  • The name (and polygon) refer to a location which is vaguely defined. It does, at least refer to the area east of the river Semliki, near the outflow from Lake Edward. There is no town or village as such.
