  • actually, Dalmeny Tank Farm
  • The Tank Farm is operated by BP, not Ineos, since BP sold off its refining operation several years ago (bought by Ineos). The tanks here are used to store goods being pumped to and from Hound Point Terminal in the Forth, and also recover the gases from empty ships as they are filled so as not to pollute the area. It is linked by pipeline to the refinery in Grangemouth, and is used to shift products to ships greater than about 30,000 tonnes in size, with smaller vessels docking and loading directly at Grangemouth docks. Oh, and it whiffs of hydrogen sulphide most of the time!
  • No oil is pumped back from tankers to Dalmeny, the oil only goes out.
