The Water Tower is one of the symbols of Leverkusen and can be seen from afar. Completed in 1978, the 72-metre structure with a diameter of 42 meters also serves as a 360° viewing platform over Leverkusen, from the Rheinpark to nearby Cologne and, weather permitting, even as far as Bonn. The technical purpose of the water tower was to ensure constant water pressure for the city's supply lines and the ability to be prepared for peaks in consumption, with a tank volume of 4,000 m3.
