UPDATE:
Camp Stanley is now closed and the ville is dead...

Camp Stanley Ville, the only true ville in South Korea. Considered the only true ville because it caters solely to American Soldiers and is located directly outside of the ville gate - AKA chopper gate. Peggy's restaurant is a MUST visit when you go here. It was located just halfway down the hill on the left hand side.

The true name of this village is disputed by most soldiers that were stationed there. During my 3 ½ years there, most people, Americans and Koreans alike, referred to it as 송산 (Songsan) or 송산리 (Songsan-ni).

  • I was stationed at Camp Indian in 1980 we knew Stanleyville as Song Song then.
  • Song Song papasan club rocked!
  • Was at Stanley May 1977-May 1978. The Papasan Club was definitely one of my favorites. Each GI had their favorite. Wonder if it is still there? There were two DJs there that I became good friends with.
  • Camp Stanley is closed now. I was stationed there for a few years during the mid 80s. I went back on vacation in 2014 and the ville was a ghost town. The number of troops stationed there at that time was less than half (probably closer to a third) of what it was back in my days. I went on vacation again in May (2019). The camp was closed and the ville was dead. The only place I found open for business was a little "mom and pop" store a little past the bottom of Suicide Hill.
