Hamlet with own church that belongs to the community of Bühlertann whose central village is about 3 km to the West in the valley of the Bühler river. The hamlet was founded as a wood clearing settlement on the heights of the Ellwanger Berge (Mountains of Ellwangen), evidence thereof is even in the name: "Fron" means lord, "rot" < German "roden" means clearing.
