A municipal park.

History:

The modern Soda Springs Park is a remnant of a much larger park which once occupied the entire space between Manitou, Park, and Canon Avenues. It was originally owned by General Palmer and Dr. Bell's Colorado Springs Company, and was part of the original plan for Manitou Springs designed in 1872 by John Blair. The company sold the portion comprising the current park to the city of Manitou Springs in 1917.

The first hotel in Manitou Springs, the Rustic House (a.k.a. Rustic Inn, Transient Inn, Temporary Inn, or Villa La Font Hotel), was built on the site of the current park in 1871. It was demolished in 1875.
