Leased from North American Aviation at a rate of $8,800.00 per month on January 1st, 1965, these twin hangars and allotted apron space became the home and primary production facility for Shelby American vehicles. Selected primarily for their open-floor layout which offered an obstruction-free production area, the hangers were modified for their new roles through February 1965, after which production began to shift from Shelby's Venice plant. With relocation largely completed by January of 1966, production commenced and the line were producing roughly seven 1965 GT350's road cars per day. The second production line focused primarily on the for the building of the racing Cobras and R model Mustangs, which were steadily produced here until all Shelby production was relocated to the A.O. Smith Company of Ionia, Michigan, under the direct control of Ford.
