United Church (Port Moresby)

This is one of the original buildings from when Port Moresby was constructed back in the 1800's. It was originally built on the ground and raised in the 1990's

  • The church building was removed in November 2009 I have heard that it will be transfered to Hanuabada village but not sure how true this is.
  • I hope it remains a place of worship and does not become "accomodation".
  • I attended the church between 1964 and 1967 there was a good number of people attending and good Christian worship.
  • I have added a photo of the current (27/11/2010) construction work that is taking place at the site of the old United Church

  • The Ela United Church was Moved in 2010 or 2011, to back of Metoreia Hill which was the Site of the LMS Mission Station above ELEVALA Village, in Port Moresby Harbour area, Sadly the Building is not being looked after to well since being moved
  • The Old Ela United Church was in Douglass Street which runs off Hunter Street, in Down Town Port Moresby,
