Douglas Library is the smaller of Queen's University's two main libraries. Formerly the main library on campus, it became the science and engineering library following the opening of nearby Stauffer Library in 1994. Curiously, a large portion of the building is underground (three stories) because at the time, Queen's University policies prohibited the construction of buildings taller than Grant Hall's clock tower.
