The former dragstrip operated here from 1980 through 2005. It was sanctioned at times by either NHRA or IHRA. At only 47 acres, it was an ideal local race track but had difficulty handling larger events which usually require 110 acres or more to handle the racers, fans and parking. The track was at risk of closure several times over the years. The most recent owner bought it, reopened the following year and operated it for several years in preparation for building something bigger. The final closure was made to focus on getting a replacement facility established closer to I-80 and the larger population centers of Lincoln and Omaha.
