Boats leave here to go (e.g.) to Lolotia Is. Others leave their boats here for safety as the waters are calm. In the 30's ships used to come right up to the wharf to load copper brought down from Sogeri where it was mined. A steam train used to run on rails right out along the jetty to meet up with the ships.
