cinema, interesting place
Now a store of some sort, but the history of this place is much more interesting:
Long closed and converted into something else, for many years this multiplex (they fit 6 screens in there!) was one of the _major_ multiplex cinemas in Bakersfield, along with the United Artists located just up the road (California). The two theaters were challenged in the '90s: initially by theaters in the Northeast (East Hills Mall UA), but the death kneel came with the opening of the Edwards in The Marketplace and the Pacific Theater next to Valley Plaza.
The theaters were small, so movies would sell out quickly.
