St. George Parish Church Building

The hurricane of 1780 destroyed the first church built at this site. A new church was built four years later and this building survived to the present time, making it the oldest ecclesiastical building on the island. The architecture is less Gothic and more Georgian, it features a magnificent alter painting. One of the treasures, which hangs over the alter is the beautiful Resurrection painting Rise to Power by Benjamin West R.A.
