Welfenschloss built 1857-1866 by Christian Heinrich Tramm as the residence of King George V. Abandoned 1866 after Prussian annexion of the Kingdom Hanover. Transformed 1875-1878 by Hermann Hunaeus as the residence of the Royal College of Technology. Partly destroyed 1943 by allied air strike. Rebuilt and enlarged after World War II.
