  • GREAT SET UP
  • This is un doubtedly the Best Hospital in Eastern India, including the new building (Annexe Building ) of course.
  • One of the most unprofessional institutes I have seen. This along with the SaltLake AMRI is poorly managed with no one actually having an idea whats going on. Normal admittance papers from reception takes 2-3 hrs. to reach the proper nursing staff office in different floors. Lifts are slow and patients generally have to stand 10-20 mins just to move from their floor to the OT. In other words mis management to the extreme to the level noone actually know how much a minor operation would cost. I have seen better places than this.
  • the cost of curing is 2 hi.middle class cant afford it.
  • 90 patients were suffocated to death in this hospital on the early hours of 10.12.2011. the fire rose from the basement, fuelled by combustible material stored therein. Since the hospital did not have even the basic fire prevention systems in place, and the whole building was effectively sealed to "optimise" temperature control, the fire quickly rose up engulfing the critical and orthpaedic, trauma wards. The patients in there didnt stand a chance. This hospital was in the news recently before this ghastly incident too. Dr. Kunal Saha, who had sued this hospital for medical negligence leading to the death of his wife, was awarded 1.73 crore INR as compensation only a month prior to this inferno. Every hospital needs to have a evacuation system in place. Every hospital needs trained crew/ staff to deal with such emergencies professionally. Every hospital owes it to its patients to ensure their safety of life and well-being. We, most of all, owe it to our relatives and loved ones to ask/upbraid staff/ doctors if their treatment methods and care mechanisms of patients fall short of acceptable standards. The key to preserving life is vigilance, not vigilantism after loss of life. Admitting a relative/ friend in hospital or/and paying for their treatment isnt the end of our responsibility as able citizens. We shall not forget.
  • Read 09.12.2011 instead of 10.12.2011.sorry about the misprint.
