Its a saying - India lives in its villages. Though a lot has changed with the changing times, still a lot depends on these lively villages which present the better half of India. Each Village has a unique identity, with the best coming out in their own ways. Pithanpura village is one of the sacred villages . It is situated in district Bhind in Chambal Region in the northwest of the State Madhya Pradesh(M P). The Village is 17 km from district Bhind. The village also known as Pithanpura Chauraha. The Chauraha is a glorious landmark. It is connected by four roads which go to different directions that's why it is called chauraha. Buses and oter means of Transportation are easily available from here to Gormi, Porsa , Pawai, Ater ,Mehgaon , Gwalior , Bhind , Itawa etc. The soil of village is very fertile and is well drained by the Chambal, Kali Sind, Kunwari or Kwari rivers . The main occupation of the people of village is agriculture. The crops cultivated are jowar (sorghum),wheat and some varieties of coarse millets. and some government employee also live .The village has a sacred and old temple ,Government School,Hospital, Panchayat Bhawan , Marriage Hall, Raslila Maidan and some private schools and college ,Shops, Farms , Petrol pump, Bank , Bus stand. and it is very close (around 4 km)from etehar railway station. it is tha village of pandits(brahamans).and they strongly believe Lord Ram and Krishna. 1. PAWAI WALI MATA : Pawai Wali Mata Temple is an ancient shrine, located in Pawai. It is a 1000-year-old temple.many pilgrims come here on every monday . Famous Fair takes place occasion of navratri.People have great faith in it.
2. FORT OF ATER : It is Located deep inside the ravines of Chambal is this 16th century fort built by the Bhadauria Kings- Badan Singh, Maha Singh and Bakhat Singh. Major attractions in the fort include 'Khooni Darwaza', 'Badan Singh Ka Mahal', 'Hathiapor', 'Raja Ka Bangla', 'Rani Ka Bangla' and 'Barah Khamba Mahal'. Due to age and neglect, the fort is more or less in a dilapidated condition. Do check out the other places nearby: Shankar Mandir , Sati Mandir and Chamunda Devi Mandir.
3. HANUMAN TEMPLE, DADRAUWA : It is of prime importance in the district and people have a faith for medicinal blessings of the god Hanuman. The God is known as Surgical Hanumanji.Many Pilgrims Reach Here on every Tuesday And saturday.
4. VANKHANDESHWAR TEMPLE :Vankhandeshwar Temple is an ancient shrine of Lord Shiva, located on the bank Gauri Sarovar.The temple was built by Prithviraj Chauhan in AD 1175. A 'Jyoti', flaming in the temple, is believed to have been lit by Prithviraj himself at the time of inauguration of the temple.
5. MATA RENUKA TEMPLE AT JAMDARA : It is located in Gohad Tehsil near Mau and is told as the birthplace of Maharshi Parashuram. Folklore linked to Parashuram is that his father ordered to cut the head of Mother Renuka which he complied with and as a prize asked for revival of the dead Mother which Maharshi Jamdagini, his father solicited.The temple was built at the place of this activity.In the temple the idol of Deity Mother Renuka with a separated head is there in the temple.
6. BHINDI RISHI TEMPLE : This temple is named after Rishi Bhindi originally known as Bhibhandak who was contemporary to Mahabharat period. It is said that Pandavas came to Bhibhandak Rishi Ashram during their 'Agayatvaas'. The legend goes that Raja Pareekshit who visited the place of worship of Rishi Bhindi in the influence of "Kalyug" which was about to come, garlanded Rishi by a dead snake and Rishi then cursed the king that he would die after the bite of snake. Ultimately Raja Pareekshit died after the bite of 'Nag Takshak' and the era named as 'Kalyug' started.
7. RAM TEMPLE AT RAWATPURA : It is a new place of worship established in the district. People have great faith in the head priest Rawatpura Maharaj ji. The place is located 16 km. far from Tehsil Head Quarters. A large number of visitors from several states of India visit this place. It is built by Shri Ravi Shankar Maharaja popular saint of the area. And many more places......
