The Fox is formed by an area divided between vast plains, similar to the savannah regions, but known locally as plowed, and mountain ranges on the border of Brazil with Venezuela and Guyana. In its boundaries lie the Mount Roraima, the highest point of the state, origin of its name and one of the highest mountains of Brazil, and Mount Caburaí, where is the source of the river Aila, extreme north. In the area inhabited by around 20,000 Indians, most of them ethnic Macusi. Among the smaller groups are the uapixanas, Ingaricó, taurepangues and Patamon.
