The Manavi Fortress was presumably built in the X-XI centuries. The monument is situated in the village Manavi of the Sagarejo region and is therefore referred to as Manavi Fortress. The fortress consists of two segments: on an elevated area a citadel is situated and to the East the lower fortress verges to it. Vakhushti Batonishvili refers to the fortress as follows: “and to the East of Dampala, towards North Manavi is located below Hereti where Imam Kulikhan has built a castle, there is an ancient fortress at the bottom of the mountain destroyed now”…
