El Fureidis (translates to “Little Paradise.”) - the famous and extravagant J. Waldron Gillespie Estate.
One of the first 'great estates' built in Montecito. The palm collection and mediterranean gardens were begun in 1890.
The formal Persian Water Gardens and the Roman Revival mansion were designed by architect Bertram Goodhue, with Gillespie, in 1906. The private gardens were open for design tours into the 1930s.

Many of the mature rare palms were sold to Disneyland in 1957, for the new Adventureland & 'the Jungle Cruise' landscape.
It was chosen by Director Brian De Palma as the expression of the ultimate luxury estate in his film “Scarface” starring Al Pacino. It 'was' Tony Montana's Coral Gables home.
