Swandale, Clay Co., WV was the home of the lumber part of the Elk River Coal and Lumber Company. All the houses and buildings in the Widen coal town were cut and sawed at the mill in Swandale then shipped by train as there was no road into Widen until much later.

  • I lived in Swandale in the 60's. I lived in the managers house when I was a kid with my brother Pete Stockard. My dads name was C.C. Stockard. He was the manager at the time for G.P. I went to school in Swandale in the little red school house. Is there anyone out there that remebers us? If so contact me at stockardfamily@yahoo.com.
