The l'Action Catholique was published fron 1915 until 1962 when the name was changed to Action Quebec. The newspaper had its origins in the Catholic social movement which began in the early 20th century which aimed to develop a social conscience amongst Catholics. Popular with rural people, the newspaper closed in 1973, with the increased secularization of Quebec society and a lack of revenue.
