Amerang Castle

Germany / Bayern / Amerang / Schloss
hotel, castle, museum, interesting place, listed building / architectural heritage

Amerang Castle in the Chiemgau was chronicled for the first time in 1072. In the early beginnings, the Laimingers, one of the most outstanding families in Bavaria, lived in the Gothic fortress. In the 16th century, the Scaliger restored the fortress into a castle, which was later ruled by the Counts of Lamberg. Finally, Amerang Castle came into property of the Barons of Crailsheim by marriage, and it’s been their old family estate since then.

Today, the castle serves as hotel and event location in a familiar atmosphere. The hotel offers 8 individually designed rooms without TV and phone for the perfect break of everyday life. The daily breakfast is served in the Scaliger Hall or the garden. High value is set on the products’ organic and local origin.

As mentioned, Amerang Castle is nestled in the heart of the Chiemgau. Places of excursions are 33 lakes, the Chiemgau Alps, the beautiful village of Amerang, the Golf Club Höslwang and hunting grounds belonging to the castle. Additional sights are Salzburg, Munich, Rosenheim, the Wasserburg am Inn and the Upper Bavarian Farmhouse Museum.
