इटारसी Itarsi. Itarsi is a city in Madhya Pradesh state in central India. Itarsi is located in Hoshangabad District, south of the city of Hoshangabad. The most popular thing about itarsi is the one of the star junction in india . Its a centre of our country. Itarsi is a commercial hub for agricultural goods, and is also famous for its railway junction. The Bori Wildlife Sanctuary and Tawa Dam are nearby. Itarsi got its name from Intt (brick) and rassi (rope) which used to be traded around the town.But now plywood factory take the place of "intt" and "rassi." Several industries are situated near the town including the ordnance factory and soya oil mills.The famous writer harishankar parsai and vipin joshi also belongs to itarsi. India's only statue of any writer (vipin joshi's) stabled in itarsi. Itarsi is the biggest and one of the oldest railway junctions in Madhya Pradesh , at the crossing of important east-west and north-south routes. Itarsi comes under West Central Railway zone whose head quarter is in Jabalpur. Itarsi is connected via broad gauge lines to Bhopal and Delhi to the north, Bhusawal and Mumbai to the west, and the railway junctions of Nagpur to the south and Jabalpur to the east.
