The settlement of North Mount Vernon around Carrick Drive, which was initially feud out in the latter half of the nineteenth century concurrently with Mount Vernon to the south.

Neither settlement existed when the ordnance survey carried out their 1864 survey but both were well underway at the time of the 1895-9 surveys.

The original area encompassing the estate of Mount Vernon and the first streets feud out by the Carrick Buchanans of Mount Vernon House.
