Quick Stop

USA / New Jersey / Leonardo / North Leonard Avenue, 58
convenience store, movie / film / TV location

This small convenience store located along Leonard Road just north of NJ 36 was made famous by Leonardo, NJ filmmaker Kevin Smith, an employee of the store, where it was the setting of the independent 1994 film "Clerks", using friends and locals as actors and $27,000 of his own money for expenses. The store reappeared in other works of Smith's, but remains an operational convenience store. In addition to typical independent food market fare (snacks, small groceries, cigarettes, and lottery tickets), the store features novelty items from Smith's films as well as a plaque dedicated to Smith's work.

Comments

  • Both stores are a LOT smaller than they look in Clerks.
  • This is the site where the first Kevin Smith cult classic film was shot. I hope to one day make a pilgrimage to this place.
  • I was there last weekend. The video store is closed. The Quick Stop is open, it is exactly like it was in the movie. I heard that they want to keep it looking like it did in the movie for those of us that want to see the place. The lot across the street has a building in it now, under construction. Enjoyed stopping in. thank you, come again.
  • I'm always surprised when I see photos people have taken of the two shops, that they aren't covered in graffiti from people on Kevin Smith pilgrimages. Do they just get cleaned very very often, or do Silent Bob fans not own pens? Cheesy as it might be- I think I'd be tempted to write something.
