Triangle Park Property (Portland, Oregon)

Former industrial area. Purchased by Triangle Park, LLC, and some initial cleanup was performed before sale to the adjacent University of Portland. The property will be used for expansion by the University. Additional cleanup will be done, costing in excess of $3 million, before the property is fit for use.

The sale was agreed to in 2006, but negotiations stalled, and the University pursued legal options under the original sale agreement. Completion of the sale was announced by the University in December, 2008.

Official planning is still underway, but draft plans have included a parking structure built into the hillside leading to the property, which would provide both parking space and a location for elevators up the incline; athletic facilities, including the re-located baseball and tennis facilities; maintenance facilities, and office/classroom space.

Plans do not include any housing on the new property, in part because the property is bisected by a infrequently used railroad. Initial plans include the construction of several athletic facilities, including a track, baseball field, and softball field, and some structures related to the new Environmental Science program.
