Barnaul substation of MES Siberia, designed for 1150 KV but currently operating at 500 KV. This is the point where the line from Itatsk enters the substation. There is already lots of 1150 KV designed pylons and bus bar "tower" isolators visible, but the installed switchgear and shunts are notably smaller, so the station is operated at 500 KV most likely. There are no 1150/500 KV step-down transformers installed in the station yet, their lots in the center are still empty. The southwestern half of the proposed 1150 KV field is void of any equipment even. Only the 500 KV field extends along the whole length, occupying the eastern half and having lines going out to Rubtsovsk (RUS) and Aksu and Ust-Kamenogorsk (both KAZ) operating at this voltage. Notice the spare 1150 KV "nabla" pylon lying flat beside a much smaller 500 KV traverse type pylon by the high transformer maintance building. There also is a 1150 KV pylon erected just to the northwest of the station, probably a handling specimen or a temporary straight outside connection. In Barnaul press I found a report of a linemens' competition in rigging, perhaps this was the competition area.
