A dominant conic hill 536 m (name means Green Mountain), was fortified on the top from ancient times by various tribes. Through around countryside led important tradeway Golden Trail, connecting Austrian Salzburg salt pan with Praha over the Bohemia Forrest.
The Cistercians monks from near Klaster (Monastery) erected here first Middle Ages stronghold, which was destroyed by Hussites. Later the Hussites renewed the fortress, which had a rich past history and variety of owners, the last one was the Czechoslovak People´s Army.
However, in Czech known falsa "Manuscripts of Zelena Hora" were founded here.
The large reconstructions passed over for a long time.
