Star Lake is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in the Adirondack Mountains St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The population was 809 at the 2010 census. Star Lake is in the Town of Clifton, but part of the community is in the Town of Fine.

The community is located east of a very angular-shaped lake, also called Star Lake.
Once a combination mining town and resort town, the tourism aspects faded in the early 1960s as deteriorating hotels and resort property were not replaced or upgraded. The nearby iron mine closed in the mid-Seventies and the town then became reliant on the paper mill in nearby Newton Falls. That mill closed around the turn of the century. Many residents now travel long distances in order to find work, though the town is a community center, hosting a small hospital and nursing home and the area school, as well as a nine-hole golf course and enclosed seasonal ice rink.
