The village of Baba 1 is one of the 13 villages of Ngo-Ketunjia Division. The village's traditional leader is called a Fon, and this location is the Fon's palace.

  • The mbanka people were the first people to settled at the upper section of the Baba I village, precisely at the present fon's palace. Mohmbanka who left Nso to 'piàck' (baba 1)called Nkangaperh settled there. when the fon left mbango after querelling with the Mbabungo people he come up and ask Mohmbanka to allow him to rest there.He left to the present mbanka and settled at Momessang.When he died the fon ordered for his remains to be burried in the fons palace where his hut was.

  • Baba 1 village today seem to be the most populated not only in the babessi sub-division but in the division itself holding the highest number of scholars and elites.even in terms of infrastructure and social amenities. Politically,for years the village has been dominated by the main opposition party the SDF because of the long support the party enjoyed from a business magnet called Mr YOYO Emmanuel who has been a member of parliament and questor for the opposition party in the lower house of assembly. In 2011,for the first time in over 20years of multi partism and the nomination of Mr MOH TANGONGHO SYLVESTER to the prestigious post of GM of treasury the political game completely changed i n favor of the ruling party not only in BABA 1 village but in Ngohketunjia as large. In the economic hub of cameroon more baba 1 people are visible in day to day activities. Many are not only petit traders but company owners at local and international level. The village is mainly divided religiously by muslim 60% and christians 40% who has for decades peacefully co-habitate.
  • I have for several years questioned to know why there is only one Anglophone billionaire in Cameroon?(MUKETE). History tells us that thirty years ago we had very prominent Anglophone businessmen like:KILO,NANGA and so on who traded with renounced Bamileke business people like FOTSO VICTOR,KADJI,SOEM
  • Baba 1 village have never had an elite who have had the village affairs at heart like Mr Moh Sylvester Tangongho.Infact,since he was made the Director General of Treasury,Baba 1 people have had roads,schools from primary to secondary,electrification of the entire village as well as pipe borne water. His action has never been politically motivated because when it comes to politics different views are shared freely without any fear.I think his Royal Highness Fuekemshi the 11 can confirm this outstanding performance realised by his subject. We have had elites if different caliber in the past but today we can proudly say that Mr Moh Sylvester has been an eye opener to the younger generation
