Velvetex, A. S. manufacture and export a supreme quality assortment of Textile Fabric , Cloth fabric, fleece fabric and fabric materials.
The field day for building a factory was on 1th May 1947. During building and also in the first year of working, this factory was a branch of home factory in Ružomberok. In this year the factory was named: Slovak Cotton Factory – Factory Liptovský Mikuláš.
On 7th May 1950, after testing, was an openning ceremony. At the start-up day 217 looms Benninger and 40 loom Rutti were installed. This machines made first meters of the fabrics. From 1th January 1951 the factory became independent and was named Factory of 1th May.
• 1.7. 1960 – 1.1.1961 the factory was controlled by Ministry of Consumer Industry
• 1.1.1961 – 1.7.1965 the control of the factory was taken by Hedva, Moravská Třebová
• 1.7.1965 – 1.1.1969 the factory was controlled by Cotton Industry, Pardubice
• 1.1.1969 - 1.7.1989 the control was insured by integration group Slovakotex Trenčín
• 1.7.1989 - 1.5.1992 the factory was controlled by Ministry of Industry of the Slovak Republic
After 1.5.1992 the factory was transform to join stock company. In 2004 was filed a petition for a bankruptcy.
On 16th May 2005 new company VelveTex, a.s. was established. This company is own by company Ozeta Neo, a.s., which is the biggest factory for men´s clothing in Slovakia. VelveTex, a.s. took over all business activities, technologies and all 224 employees of company Maytex, a.s. in konkurz. The aim of comany VelveTex is to consolidate one´s position on fabrics market. Then strengthen the company in all its bearings, which will help the company to become a perspective employer in region of Liptovský Mikuláš.
