The place is historic for 'Gurdas Nangal de Shahid'.After winning Sirhind and further capturing Batala,Kalanaur and Bahrampur Baba Banda Singh made halt at a fortress in outskirts of Gurdasnangal .Abdusammad Khan a general of Mughal emperor Farukhsiayar surrounded the place on 27 April 1715.After defending the fortress for eight months living on tree leaves Baba Banda Singh was captured on 7 Dec 1715.He was taken to Delhi after chaining all around his body and was brutely murdered after severe tortures even to his 4 year old son .
