The Episcopal Divinity School(EDS) ocupies the site of the former Episcopal Theological School, which was founded in 1867. The name of the school was changed in 1974 when the school merged with the Philadelphia Divinity School, which was founded in 1858. The school is a seminary of the Episcopal Church, a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion. EDS is a member of the Boston Theological Union, a consortium of theological schools in the Boston region.
