Boston subsection (Woodbourne section of the Forest Hills area of the Jamaica Plain neighborhood). First street-car suburb, designed for the emerging middle class. Development started small in 1898 and advanced from 1911 through 1928 when the Boston Dwelling House Company built small homes ordinary families could afford on mortgages of roughly $50 a month. In effect, this was the first housing project, albeit of stand-alone houses with small yards.This is now an historic district on the National Register
