This university provides agricultural education.
In 1967 Voronezh State Agricultural Institute was named after its first rector K.D. Glinka.
In 1991 it became a university. In 2011 the university got back its name, Voronezh State Agricultural University named after Emperor Peter the Great.

Number of students: 15,000.
The University houses 8 faculties (of Agricultural Science, Accounting and Finance, Agricultural Chemistry and Ecology, Veterinary Science and Animal Breeding, Rural Engineering, Humanities and Law, Land Survey, Economy and Management, Technology and Merchandising), a Professional Development School and two institutes, 12 branches, 8 boards, 48 farms, and an exhibition center.
Choice: 30 specializations and 52 qualifications, 19 majors, 36 specializations for post-graduate students.
Staff: 1,400 from whom:
- 664 are teachers (including 440 with Candidates’ (PhD) or Doctors’ degrees;
-105 are professors).
