Wat Pho Bang Khla / "Temple of the Flying Foxes"

Temple complex dating from the 1760s originally built to commemorate an encampment of Taksin the Great's army during the campaign to push the Burmese out of Thailand.

The trees around the temple are famous for being the location of a massive colony of flying fox bats. The concentration of bats has made it a popular research location for epidemiologists sutdying emerging pandemic threats.
