Yonkers is the largest city (by population) in Westchester County and the 4th largest city in the State of New York.

Yonkers is a city in Westchester County, NY. It received its charter in 1872, however was first founded over 200 years earlier and is one of New York City's oldest suburbs. As of the 2000 census, the population stood at 196,086 making it the fourth largest city in New York State. It is a highly diverse area noted for its rolling hills and easy access to Manhattan.

Fictional hometown of Horace Vandergelder, a general owner, that was pursued by matchmaker Dolly Levy in the 1964 musical Hello Dolly!, the 1955 play The Matchmaker and the 1938 theatrical version entitled The Merchant of Yonkers.
