Kumu is the main building of the Art Museum of Estonia and the largest and most representative exhibition space in Estonia. Opened in 2006, the Kumu Art Museum's mission is to preserve and interpret Estonian art from the 18th century to the present day. Kumu sees its role as a creator of social and cultural debate, both in its art history exhibitions and in its contemporary art gallery, which serves as a laboratory for new ideas for artists from Estonia and abroad. Kumu's permanent exhibition presents Estonian art from the early 18th century to 1991, while temporary exhibitions also include international and contemporary art.
