Subsitance farming with 2 harvest seasons a year, and cotton produced for French and West African companies. Agriculture is primarily slash and burn but was moving toward rotating cultivation in late '90s. Crops include manioc (a type of cassava), corn, vine vegetables and peanuts. Some rice, millet, sesame and fruit trees are also grown.


Market language is Sango. 1st Language of most in the area was Banda. Children now learn French in school.
Rich culture that combines influence of French Catholic missionary religion with local animist beliefs.
