Isleta Pueblo was established around the 1300s. Many traditions, songs and dances are still practiced and passed down from generation to generation. Historic St. Augustine Church, built in 1612 and located on the main plaza, presents interesting history and traditional architecture. Isleta have matrilineal non-exogamous corn groups which are connected with directions and colors, a moiety system (one moiety connected with the winter, the other with the summer), a kiva system. Kachina cults are also found in Isleta. (credit Wikipedia and others)
